Three years ago today, we witnessed the unthinkable: a violent, destructive mob attacking the United States Capitol, targeting the lawmakers, staff, and police officers inside of it discharging their Constitutional duties.
The object of the rioters was to disrupt the congressional certification of the 2020 election, which Joe Biden had won with a massive majority of the popular vote as well as the Electoral College. Ultimately, the violent MAGA mob was aiming to stop the election results from being certified in order to keep Donald Trump in power so that he could declare martial law or otherwise refuse to leave the White House and transfer power to Biden.
Jordan was a principal mastermind of this unconstitutional and un-American effort to thwart the will of the people and keep Trump in power.
Jordan has also, for over 500 days, defied a lawfully-issued congressional subpoena for information into his role in planning Team Trump’s illegal coup attempt and the resulting violent and deadly January 6th insurrection.
He betrayed America and sought to undermine, if not destroy, democracy and the rule of law and he must be held accountable for his actions.
I am here to defeat Jim Jordan, but my election is about so much more than him—it is about the opposite of what happened three years ago on that fateful day: winning through the power of the people, fighting hate with hope, and transferring power peacefully through democracy, not lies and violence.
We will emerge victorious in this contest for the soul of America if we stick together and stay true to our values and ideals.
