John,

Today marks three years since the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol.

Three years since 147 Republican lawmakers voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

January 6th, 2021 should have been just another Wednesday in class for me, but it was far from that.

I’m an English teacher, and the social studies teachers are normally the ones who discuss politics in their classes – but the kids had so many questions that day.

I tried to explain some of what was going on in simple terms: That there were people who didn’t want to accept that Joe Biden was the next president. That they were basically saying a person’s vote doesn’t matter.

When push came to shove, McCarthy refused to stand up to the MAGA Freedom Caucus, and my Republican opponents won’t either.

I'm the public school teacher and pro-democracy Democrat who’s ready to flip CA-20 and prioritize Central Valley voices.

John, I need your help to prove that Democrats won’t back down. Can you help elect a pro-democracy representative for the Central Valley with a small-dollar donation today?

In unity,

Marisa Wood
