It’s no coincidence that I am launching my campaign on January 6th – just three years ago I was preparing to do my constitutional duty as a member of Congress to certify the election for Joe Biden when insurrectionists broke down the doors in a violent and undemocratic act of terrorism.
Ever since, January 6th has been a reminder of just how vulnerable our democracy is in the face of lies, injustice, and a growing appetite for chaos and violence on the far right.
We can’t stand for it. 2024 is a turning point for our democracy and we need to do everything we can now to take the majority back this November and end the chaos.
When I first ran for Congress in 2018, I knew I would be part of a firewall protecting our democracy from MAGA extremism, though I didn’t know how bad it would get. Fighting for our rights and making way for our future was the job the people of PA sent me to Washington to do.

When we’re in the majority, Democrats have a track record of fighting for our rights, creating jobs, investing in our infrastructure, and lowering costs for hard-working Americans and their families. This is the work I am so eager to get back to, but first, we need to protect the rights and freedom Republicans are determined to destroy.
As chair of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, I hold an important role as a check against MAGA extremism, defending democracy and the Constitution from future attacks. It’s a role I take very seriously, and I know you’re behind me.
