On this day 3 years ago we watched a mob of angry, MAGA-clad, far-right extremists literally storm the Capitol building, vandalize the halls of Congress, and threaten democracy as we know it.
Since then, we’ve seen the deterioration of common-sense legislating – the very extremism and rhetoric that led us to January 6th is now propped up on cable news and social media.
It’s no secret that January 6th was a turning point. That’s what makes it so disheartening when Democrats, like our opponent Rep. Bill Foster, indulge the very people who made the insurrection happen.
You heard that right: Rep. Bill Foster gladly takes campaign contributions and support from corporations that support the insurrectionists in Congress, and he doesn’t seem to care that accepting that support is undermining the very democratic principles he claims to uphold.
I lead with morals, values and conviction – that’s why we find it so shameful that our supposed representative cares more about funding his own campaign than standing up for democracy.
