Democracies do not develop overnight, it takes decades to build a strong democracy. Americans have fought to build and expand our democratic system. From founding the world's representative democracy to progressive era reforms and the civil rights movement, each generation has defended our rights, liberties, and democracy.
And that's why January 6, 2021, was so disturbing.
It only takes a day for democracy to fail, and January 6th was the day ours almost failed because an armed insurrection attempted to overturn a free and fair election. Men and women clad in MAGA-red and tactical gear bludgeoned Capitol Police, broke windows, burst through doorways, waved confederate flags through the halls of Congress, and took control of the Senate floor.
It was a day no one could have imagined. But a day that is bound to repeat itself unless we act today .
Donald Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election facilitated the insurrection on January 6, 2021. Trump has proven, time and again, that he is a singular threat to democracy and that he is only interested in power.
I started the One Country Project because our country is deeply divided, but by repairing our democracy we can bring our country back together.
It is our responsibility to stand up for democracy. So, if you are committed to repairing our nation's democracy and stopping Donald Trump in 2024, then please give to the One Country Project today. [[link removed]]
Together we can defend democracy in 2024.
