Dear John,

On January 6, 2021, a violent mob of insurrectionists attacked the U.S. Capitol. I continue to thank the brave U.S. Capitol Police and other first responders who safeguarded our democracy and protected our nation's capital on that dark day. January 6 was more than an attack on our capital—it was an attack on the very foundation of our democracy.

And now, three years later the work to protect our democracy lives on. But we must work together to protect it. So much is on the line this November — it is clear that it is up to us to defend the fabric of our nation.

That’s why it is so critical that we come together this year to push back. Holding Ohio’s 13th Congressional District is critical to our democracy, giving us the opportunity to guarantee and expand voting rights, ensure we have free and fair elections, and defeat the extremist agenda to dismantle our democratic institutions.

Our democracy is worth defending — it's our shared responsibility as American citizens. I know we will do it together.
