Annual awards gala will be held in September

Friend—

As you know, we are facing a challenging public health situation, the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). I assure you that we at Immigration Equality are staying up-to-date with city, state, and federal guidelines. In that vein, and in support of New York City's efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our 25th Anniversary celebration at the Safe Haven Awards until Fall 2020. You will hear more information about the new date of the event soon.

We know how important this event is for our community of clients and pro bono partners, but we must put everyone’s health and safety first. The decision to postpone the Safe Haven Awards from May 12th to Fall 2020 will hopefully allow us to celebrate Immigration Equality's 25th Anniversary together as a family later this year. If you planned on sponsoring or buying tickets – please continue to do so! Our lifesaving work for LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants and families will continue and your support is vital to our mission.

There is a reason Immigration Equality has made it to 25 years: the tireless efforts of supporters like you. For 25 years Immigration Equality has saved thousands of lives from anti-LGBTQ violence and stigma. Already in 2020, our expert team of lawyers and paralegals have answered calls for help from 500+ people trapped in immigration detention, and with the help of pro bono counsel, are currently representing 650+ clients in 28 states. Our commitment to LGBTQ immigrants and their families is unwavering – and as long as there is a need for our services, we will be here fighting to keep people safe from harm and free to love openly.

The law firms and institutions in our network are leaders in the fight for equality – providing a safe haven in the U.S. for our community. Join us in Fall 2020 to help us congratulate this year’s honorees!
