3 years ago today, a violent, hateful mob of rioters and insurrectionists
stormed the Capitol in an attempt to stop the peaceful transition of power
— one of the very tenets upon which our democracy is built.

We came unspeakably close to losing our democracy that day.

And while we remember that horrific, deadly day in our history, we
absolutely must learn from it, because that extremism hasn’t gone away.

It’s still present, and anti-democratic rhetoric continues to plague our
social media and far-right news outlets.

We must remain vigilant to keep something like January 6th from happening
again.

I’m committed to defending our democracy, and to expanding
opportunity and public safety so that people feel safe in their
communities, and to remind extremists that their hateful ideals do NOT
represent who we are as Americans.

I appreciate everything you do to help represent the love, empathy, and
sense of community that truly represents America at its
best.

Thank you,

Angela Alsobrooks
