Community first.

John, that was my model growing up -- the common sense my parents consistently imparted, the wisdom I came home to. I remember when my father was suddenly hospitalized for two weeks just before opening up our family’s small business; I missed school to help my family open the store. It wasn’t a question of what to do: I knew I had to step up for my family and community.

As a mother, a teacher, a leader, and a friend -- I’ve held “community-first” close to my heart during trying moments. So today, I’m thinking of all those who are affected by COVID-19, both in our community and afar. This includes not only those diagnosed with the virus, but also their friends and family, whose jobs and schools have been impacted and so much more. Our focus must always be on the health and safety of our community.

We’re a strong, resilient bunch here in Southwest Washington -- and rest assured that we will see through this crisis together. In this spirit, and out of an abundance of caution for our wonderful volunteers and staff, our campaign office is operating entirely online until further notice.

Moments like this underscore the importance of electing folks who truly stand up for our community -- and not a moment too late. I’m running to represent Washington’s Third because, now more than ever, it is imperative that our community has a fearless fighter in Congress.

I’m so utterly grateful and proud to have each and every one of you on our team, fighting right alongside me. With righteousness and strength, onward we march.

Yours,

-- Carolyn
