John,
Mark Zuckerberg has quietly lifted a ban on ads claiming the US election
was rigged – opening the gates to a new flood of pro-Trump disinformation
on Facebook and Instagram in the run-up to the next election.
It’s a sordid profit grab, designed to capitalize on a relentless slew of
extremist lies, no matter the consequences for the world. But there’s a
chance we could stop it.
Zuckerberg knows this is a low move that could cause backlash for Meta –
it’s why he snuck it into a policy update with no fanfare. With the US
elections coming up, we can create a massive public campaign that will
force Meta to backtrack on this dangerous policy. Sign now:

It’s not just the US. Meta has also reversed bans on false claims about
election outcomes in Italy and Brazil – where Bolsonaro’s lies about the
2022 election led to armed protesters storming Congress in an attempted
coup.
This is literally one CEO taking a sledgehammer to democracy, setting the
world on course for more electoral violence when he should be doing
everything in his power to fix past mistakes.
Ekō members have helped force Meta to u-turn before – like when it
suspended its toxic plans to build an Instagram for Kids. We can do it
again now! Add your name:
