Tomorrow marks a somber anniversary in our country’s history — January 6,
the horrific insurrection on the United States Capitol.

And the Supreme Court just agreed to hear the case on whether Trump’s role
in inciting that attack should disqualify him from appearing on the
ballot.

I spoke with Joy Reid about it and the clear language of Section 3 of the
14th Amendment which disqualifies someone from the ballot after engaging
in insurrection.

I also talked about how Justice Clarence Thomas has a clear conflict of
interest and should recuse himself from participating in this case, given
his wife’s role in the events leading up to January 6.

But I also expressed the view that I am skeptical that this partisan and
reactionary Supreme Court will follow the Constitution. It is my
expectation that we will have to defeat Trump at the ballot box again to
save our democracy.

John, I am
doing everything I can to hold Trump to account for what he did on January
6, 2021. That’s why he fears what will happen if I make it to the U.S.
Senate — and why he continues to attack me at his campaign rallies.
