Dear John,
CPC is kicking off the New Year with a series of events you won’t want to miss.
Celebrate National School Choice Week by joining CPC’s Parent Union for school choice fairs in Los Angeles and Anaheim. Families are invited to explore K-12 education options in their school districts while enjoying great food and family-friendly entertainment.
Plus, registration is now open for our 3rd Annual Parents, Not Partisans Summit in Sacramento. Our theme this year: Who Controls the Classroom? Join us for this free 2-day event that's bringing parent group leaders, parent advocates, school board members and education reformers together from across California’s 58 counties to strategize and mobilize for this critically important election year.
And CPC’s California Local Elected Officials (CLEO) will be hosting a special virtual event Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm, The Free Speech Case against L.A. County, with attorney and Palos Verdes School Board member Julie Hamill, founder of the Alliance of Los Angeles County Parents. Julie represents the Alliance in their lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health for its campaign to silence critics of Director Barbara Ferrer’s extreme COVID mandates during the pandemic.
And, speaking of the First Amendment … You don’t want to miss CPC president Will Swaim’s National Review article on Sonya Christian, the new chancellor of California’s community-college system. Well before the recent headlines at Harvard for their aggressive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, Christian used her positions as chancellor of the Kern Community College District and, before that, president of Bakersfield College, to advance progressive politics, sparking brawls — and a lawsuit — over political speech.
What starts in California doesn’t end in California. That’s why as we head into the New Year, we are grateful for your support of CPC’s tireless fight for transparency, liberty, and sanity in the Golden State.
