John, do you remember Reverend Mahoney?
U.S. Capitol Police denied his request to hold a prayer vigil on September 11th, 2021.
They used the events of January 6th as an excuse to clamp down on peaceful demonstrations, denying Americans their right to gather and pray on the lawns surrounding the Capitol while giving congressmen and their friends free passes to do as they pleased.
In other words, they turned taxpayers like you and me into second class citizens on our own property.
A special loophole allowed members of Congress to pull strings for their friends and political allies…
…and violated Rev. Mahoney’s right to free speech and equal protection under the law – and your rights too.
I’m proud to tell you this week we reached a settlement that closes the loophole and restores equal access for all Americans to the grounds surrounding the U.S. Capitol.
And I want to thank you for your continued support because you made it possible.
We know statist politicians and bureaucrats would love nothing more than to keep people like you and me off Capitol steps.
They’ve shown us time and time again what they really think of us.
That’s why this case was so important.
And practically speaking, I’m not sure I could imagine a building more in need of prayer than the U.S. Capitol building, where elected officials make consequential decisions impacting us personally and the direction of our country.
Preserving the First Amendment has never been more important.
And with your help, we returned the People’s House to the people.
Thank you, John.
