John, the Supreme Court agreed to hear this case just moments ago. There's no time to waste:
Will you chip in $3 – or whatever you can today – and demand accountability for January 6th?
BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump just asked the Supreme Court to put him back on the Colorado ballot – after Common Cause joined the fight to DISQUALIFY him under the 14th Amendment.
Now, Common Cause is preparing to take further legal action before the Supreme Court.
That’s because it’s simply undeniable that Donald Trump incited an insurrection against our country. And that’s exactly what the Colorado Supreme Court found after 5 days of witnesses and testimony – including from a Capitol Police officer who helped fend off the January 6th attackers.
Other states have already started to follow Colorado’s lead – with Maine removing Trump from the state’s ballot just last week. But if the Supreme Court takes up Trump’s appeal, Colorado and Maine may not get to implement their decisions.
John, this case will set a precedent on whether or not a president of the U.S. is accountable to the same laws as people like you and me.
And that’s not the only reason the Supreme Court knows they’re under the magnifying glass right now.
Don’t forget – Common Cause members like you have been demanding the highest ethical standards for our highest court for the last year. So what the Justices decide in this moment will send a profound signal about whether they've chosen integrity and independence – or corruption and cowardice.
Common Cause is ready to do our part to hold Trump accountable. We’re prepared to file an amicus brief at the Supreme Court to demand insurrectionists can’t hold office.
But John, this is yet another resource intensive action we must now take – and if we’re going to stand a chance against Trump’s team of expensive lawyers, we’re going to need your help.
This case is going to move fast. Colorado and Maine have to start printing their ballots for their March 5th primaries, so the pressure is on for SCOTUS to act. There’s no time to waste:
