New Executive Director of Economic Development & Tourism
Chris Connolly has been promoted to serve as the city?s new Executive Director of Economic Development and Tourism. Chris most recently served as the General Manager at the Hurst Conference Center, and his exceptional performance in that role made him a great fit for this opportunity.
"As the Hurst Conference Center?s General Manager, he successfully served a multitude of corporations, small businesses, non-profits, and government agencies," City Manager Clay Caruthers said. "His connections, keen business sense, creativity, and customer-service focus will undoubtedly foster an environment that encourages business and economic success. With Chris leading our economic development and tourism efforts, we are confident that the City of Hurst will fulfill its mission to remain a vibrant community built on connection."
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas. He began working for the City of Hurst in 2010 while the Hurst Conference Center was being constructed and served as its General Manager from 2015 to 2023.?Prior to that, he worked in video and television production. With a professional career spanning four decades promoting products, people, places, and events, Chris hopes to bring that skill set and others to the Hurst brand in a manner that best benefits its citizens, the business community, and guests.?Chris? first job was at North East Mall as a teenager. He owned a business in Hurst at one time and has a passion for the success of small businesses.?Chris serves as a board member for YMCA Camp Carter and the HEB Leadership Alumni Committee. Chris enjoys camping, kayaking, and spending time with his family.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Document Shredding
January 6, 2024 Hurst Service Center (2001 Precinct Line Rd.) 8-11 a.m.
Bring your household hazardous waste to the Service Center along with an ID and Hurst utility bill.
Accepted items: automotive fluids (10-gallon limit), batteries, cleaners & degreasers, cooking oil, lawn/garden/pool chemicals, light bulbs, paint *limited to three five-gallon containers
Not Accepted: ammunition or explosives, appliances or electronics, building materials, bulk trash and yard waste, butane or propane cylinders, medicines or, sharps, tires
Document shredding will be available. Three (3) box limit, no larger than 15" x 12" x 10" accepted. Limited space. First come, first served.
6 Stones is partnering with us again during the event and will be on-site accepting clothing donations from Hurst residents.
Concern for proper disposal of Household Hazardous Waste and other potential surface water pollutants is a concern to all. Should you become aware of any improper disposal of any stormwater or surface water pollutant, call the City?s hotline at 817-788-7212.
Non-Emergency City Facilities Closed Jan. 15
Non-emergency city facilities will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 15, 2024.
- Hurst Recreation Center - Open normal operating hours
- Hurst Tennis & Pickleball Center - Open normal operating hours
- Hurst Senior Activities Center - Closed
- Hurst Recreation Administrative Office - Closed
- Hurst Public Library - Closed
Trash and recycling are unaffected by this holiday, and service normally provided on Monday through Friday will be on regular schedule.
