Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as director of the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation, announced [ [link removed] ] that enrollment is now open for students interested in the High School Tech Internship program. The goal of the program is to provide Ohio businesses with the tech talent they need while providing students with valuable work experience at an early age.

Governor DeWine Attended the Second Chance Symposium

Governor DeWine visited Cincinnati to speak with business leaders attending the Second Chance Symposium sponsored by KMK Law, Fifth Third Bank, and the Talbert House. The event focused on the importance of providing post-conviction employment opportunities to individuals with criminal records to promote successful reentry into society and grow Ohio's workforce.?

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted spoke at the 99th annual Ohio Fair Managers Association Convention. The event draws county and independent fair leaders from throughout Ohio to attend workshops and begin planning for the summer fair season.

Governor DeWine held a press conference on Friday to provide an update on his directive for agencies to develop administrative rules following his veto of House Bill 68.?He also discussed signing Executive Order 2024-01D [ [link removed] ], which bans gender transition surgery for anyone younger than 18 in Ohio. ?

Adam Heffron Headshot

Governor DeWine announced that from the candidates sent by the Search Committee of the Ohio Expositions Commission and State Fair, he is recommending the appointment of Adam Heffron to be the new executive director of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair. Heffron will replace long-time General Manager Virgil Strickler, who is retiring.?

"I am excited to welcome Adam Heffron back to Ohio to lead the next period of growth and development at the Ohio State Fair,? said Governor DeWine. ?Adam has the experience and passion to make our state fair the best in the nation. He will lead the changes outlined in the Expo 2050 plan that will make our fairgrounds even better for fairgoers, exhibitors, and other visitors."

Heffron must be confirmed by a vote of the Ohio Expositions Commission at a special meeting set for Wednesday, Jan. 10.
