PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY OF PERRY Lynette and I are praying for the students, teachers, and families of the Perry community. We are heartbroken by this tragic violence, and appreciate the swift response by law enforcement and emergency personnel. All of Iowa stands behind Perry. KICKING OFF MY 4TH BIANNUAL 36 COUNTY TOUR On Wednesday, I kicked off my 4th biannual 36 County Tour meeting with Ida County Sheriff Wade Harriman and his department’s police K9, Ghazi. We talked about my Honoring Police Officer and K9 Service Act to help our law enforcement cover veterinary bills and provide their K9s with the quality care that they deserve during their service and after retirement. ICYMI: A YEAR OF RESULTS FOR IOWA As Iowa’s voice in Congress, I take my job very seriously and work every day to advance strong policies that benefit our families, farmers, main street businesses, and rural communities. Serving on both the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, I’m proud to report that we’ve achieved many significant legislative victories. From cutting taxes for hardworking families to laying the groundwork for passing a strong Farm Bill, my work on these influential committees has given Iowa a voice in the process and a seat at the table in our nation’s capital. The House Republican Conference has also upheld our Commitment to America by supporting legislation to rebuild our economy, restore accountability in government, and deliver results for the American people. Check out my op-ed from July below on why we must defeat Proposition 12. Feenstra: Prop 12 just plain wrong Iowa and California are very different places - and that's a good thing. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: SECURING OUR BORDER AND PROTECTING OUR FAMILIES Last December, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that more than 302,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended at our southern border, the highest number of crossings ever recorded in a single month in American history. I’ve been to the border and seen the crisis firsthand. I can confidently say that the situation is far worse than President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas care to admit. Terrorists, drug traffickers, foreign nationals with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and illegal immigrants are pouring over our open border with no vetting whatsoever. While President Biden and his liberal advisors stick their heads in the sand and ignore the crisis at hand, I have introduced and supported legislation to restore order at our border and protect our families.
