John, I’m so grateful. Thanks to you, we hit our last critical fundraising goal of 2023 – and we’re starting the new year on track to success in November.
But before we head full-speed into 2024, I want to slow down and celebrate some of the moments from last year that I’m especially grateful for.
This fall, I got to see my daughter, Carly, walk down the aisle to join and marry Mark! Knowing that your child found the person they want to spend their life with is an incredible feeling – and I’m lucky enough to have had that experience now two years in a row! (Molly and her wife Kristen were gracious enough to share the spotlight for a little 😊)
In Washington, I’m so grateful that you and this team have stood with me through the ups, downs and the “everythings-in-between”. When the GOP attacked the rights of our LGBTQ neighbors, you helped me defend their dignity. When our veterans were being denied the care they deserved, you helped me find solutions. And when we had a chance to invest in STEM industry and education in our district, you helped me seize the opportunity and build a better future for us all.
I know that we’ll have our work cut out for us in 2024. Not only is my seat up for grabs, but President Biden’s historic leadership is being threatened by another four years of the indicted and extremist Donald Trump – and I don’t have to tell you how worrying that is for the future of our democracy.
Yet, with the things this team has already accomplished, I’m confident that we can see progress and defeat extremism in November – but only if you continue to stand with me.
I’ll be in touch soon, but in the meantime, Happy New Year. I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line together this year.
There is work to be done,
Chrissy
