John –
Our primary election here in Texas is just a couple of months away in March, and I need your help to be successful in this first step of my journey towards re-election.
First, I want to explain to you why I am running for re-election.
Many are choosing not to, for understandable reasons. Congress has become a toxic place, with an incentive structure that makes it more rewarding to be a provocative performance artist than an actual legislator. This disappointing moment in our politics is causing many people to retire from Congress and choose not to seek re-election.
But, to me, that is all the more reason to stay in the fight.
At a time when it seems Congress is devoid of real, principled conservative leaders it’s more important than ever that serious people remain in public service. And that’s what I’ve tried to provide since being elected to Congress in 2018 - principled, conservative leadership and a focus on the hard but important work of policy making.
We’ve made a lot of progress together since then. I sit on the Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the most powerful committees in Congress, and fight every day to protect our vital oil and gas industry and restore American energy independence. As Chairman of the Task Force to Combat the Mexican Drug Cartels, I’m developing concrete solutions to destroy the people responsible for the tens of thousands of Americans who are killed every year with fentanyl poison. And I’m leading the effort in Congress to pass needed policy changes into law to secure our southern border.
I take my job as a lawmaker and representative for Texas’s Second Congressional District seriously. It has been an honor to serve my state and country these past few years, and I am excited to continue that service even in the face of this challenging political environment.
But I cannot win re-election without resources. That’s why I am asking committed patriots like you from across the country to please stand with me as I seek re-election and make a small donation to my campaign. You can do so at the link below.
