Friend, The World Health Organization has officially declared COVID-19 (coronavirus) to be a global pandemic. I spent the last week in Washington, D.C. working to secure emergency funding to protect our community. I want to assure you, I’ll be looking out for our district over the coming weeks and months to make sure you have all the information you need to stay healthy and safe. Here are some important things to remember: - Wash your hands for 20 seconds on a regular basis
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and face
- Stay home from work and school if you are feeling sick
- Practice social distancing and stay away from crowded areas
If you are experiencing symptoms, call your primary doctor immediately. They will help to provide the appropriate medical care and take precautions to make sure we are not exposing health care workers or other patients. Protecting yourself from COVID-19 is especially important for elderly individuals and people with pre-existing respiratory conditions. It’s up to all of us to do our part to prevent the spread of coronavirus. You can visit the CDC’s website for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html I was proud to pass legislation to help local governments and communities respond to the pandemic -- including free testing and paid leave. We must come together, across party lines, to ensure we’re prepared to tackle the coronavirus. Thank you for reading this important information, and I will be in touch soon.
