Colorado may have been the first state to remove Trump from their ballot, but with Maine now following suit and decisions pending in dozens of states, this question is on the minds of millions of voters.

In the words of Colorado Secretary of State and DASS Chair Jena Griswold: "If the Constitution disqualifies the former President, we have to uphold the Constitution."

The 14th Amendment is pretty clear:

No president who, having previously taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion.

The fact is we watched in real time as Trump incited insurrectionists to attack the Capitol and overthrow election results.

This constitutional amendment protects us from those who disregard democracy taking power. And it’s up to our elected officials to uphold our rights and keep our elections safe.
