Friend,
Congress returns to work on Tuesday, and we plan to welcome them back by protesting the alarming anti-immigrant policies they are considering adding to their foreign aid bill.
We need all the help we can get to amplify our message to senators leading up to our rally on Capitol Hill on Tuesday. It takes just one minute to send an email to your elected officials — and it can have a tremendous impact — can we count on you to contact your senators?
These anti-immigrant proposals reportedly include expanding fast-tracked deportations, eroding asylum rights, and reducing temporary protections for immigrants. If implemented, these measures will almost certainly mean more children detained, more families separated, and more refugees sent back to face persecution and even death.
It is unconscionable that our elected officials would even consider a bill this horrific. That’s why we plan to meet with senators on Tuesday and urge them to reject these attempts to dismantle our asylum system.
Instead of trying to end asylum protections and deport immigrants, our elected officials should be fighting for a system that ensures people can reach safety, regardless of where they are from or how much money they have.
Your voice can make a difference in that fight. Friend, take action now by calling on your senators to reject any deal that jeopardizes the lives of asylum seekers and immigrants in exchange for foreign aid.
In the face of such high stakes, silence is not an option. Thank you for making your voice heard.
