We have closed the book on 2023 and entered this year anew, but there’s one thing that the Biden administration is still desperate to carry over into the new year and cram down our throats: the unwanted doorstep sales pitch that is the so-called “Bidenomics” plan. Just before Thanksgiving last year, I shed some light on the havoc that “Bidenomics” was causing as Americans were beginning to visit with loved ones for the holiday, as well as when they were visiting the grocery store to grab essentials for their Thanksgiving meals. I had revealed polling statistics on how two-thirds of adults had said their household expenses had grown over the last year, and how 73% of Americans rated the national economy as “poor”. One month earlier, in October, I even called to your attention how Washington Democrats were distancing themselves from the President’s economic plan.
In an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was doing a bit of damage control. She made the claim that Americans needed more time to feel and digest the alleged benefits of “Bidenomics” simply because of what they’ve “been through over the last three years.” I would argue, as I am sure you would, that over the last three years, Americans have been downright pummeled because of the Biden administration’s fiscal policies. To illustrate this even further, consider the following findings that have been pulled directly from a Fox News national survey conducted last month:
- 78% of respondents said the economy is in bad shape.
- 68% of respondents feel unhappy with how things are going in the country.
- 46% of respondents said the administration’s policies have hurt them personally.
- 44% of respondents said they see the economy getting worse in 2024.
Here’s the bottom line: “Bidenomics” has never, and will never, work for the American people. The evidence is clear as day – no amount of doctored up language, infographics, or television soundbites can obfuscate the truth.
Upholding Regular Order
As I have stated previously, the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas must be done through regular order and not through a snap process like what House Democrats did to President Trump. I am particularly pleased to see the announcement from Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green on Wednesday that his committee will hold an initial hearing next week as part of formal impeachment proceedings against Secretary Mayorkas. By following regular order, the Homeland Security Committee has been allowed to finish its previously launched investigation into Secretary Mayorkas, gather all the necessary facts, and move forward with impeachment proceedings with no stone left unturned. This is the magnitude of accountability that the American people deserve, and when impeachment articles come to the House floor for a full vote, I will support them.
Harvard President’s Departure
On Tuesday, now former Harvard President Claudine Gay announced that she was stepping down from her role following her shocking testimony during the House Committee on Education and the Workforce’s December 5th hearing on antisemitism. What the world saw from President Gay on December 5 was repeated equivocation – and no one has forgotten it since. Then there are allegations after allegations of plagiarism – this academically dishonest behavior is appalling. While President Gay’s resignation is welcome news, the problems at Harvard are much larger than one leader and the Committee’s oversight will continue.
