1) Illinois Looks Under a Rock and Finds Another 46,000 People
We’ve cast serious doubts on the accuracy of the 2020 Census count in many blue states. The population numbers far exceed the annual Census population estimates, data on home sales, moving van destinations, IRS tax returns, and other measures of movements between states.

Illinois should have probably lost another congressional seat as should have New York. Just as the left used the COVID pandemic in 2020 to change long-established voting rules, they used the virus to change the way the Census was conducted.  There is good reason to suspect that the counting errors cost the red states like Florida, Texas, and Arizona as many as three to four congressional seats.

So our jaws dropped open when we read this headline from the Chicago Tribune:

State officials claimed that there were far more people than originally counted who live in shelters, government-assisted housing, in prison, or are homeless.

You wouldn’t think a state would want to boast about these high numbers of indigents and criminals. But Governor J.B. Pritzker is celebrating that this recount will bring tens of millions more federal welfare dollars to his state.

None of this changes the sad reality of Illinois: the state is rapidly losing its most productive citizens – no matter what Census bean counters say.

2) More Biden Green Projects Are Gone With the Wind

President Biden’s Green New Deal has suffered a serious blow as developers of a huge New York offshore wind project backed out of a deal with New York State.

Nearly 30 percent of current wind projects are likely to be delayed or canceled. Since July, four Massachusetts contracts, two in New Jersey and one in Connecticut have been shelved.

The New York pullout by BP and Equinox is a major new blow.

“Politicians may try to resuscitate it, but this extends offshore wind’s losing streak, which is quite impressive,” Dan Kish, a fellow for the Institute for Energy Research, says. Two other major wind projects, Empire Wind 1 and Beacon Wind, are in financial trouble but haven’t officially been canceled yet.

Every day that goes by it’s more clear that the much-hyped “green energy transition” is in reality a green energy bust.

3) It’s an Election Year, so Biden Gives Federal Workers a Big Bonus

Give this to President Biden – he takes care of his base.

The 3 million federal workers just got their biggest salary hike in 40 years, with base pay going up 5.2% across the board. Some will get an even bigger raise because of changes in the locality pay system. Social security recipients are only getting a 3.2% cost-of-living increase.

You’d think with fat pay hikes like this, Uncle Sam would be rolling in dough, instead of running a near-$2 trillion deficit.

A lot of this money to the unionized federal bureaucrats will flow right back into Biden’s campaign coffers.

The website FedSmith reports that in the 2020 election, only 21% of federal employee campaign donation dollars went to Republicans. Every federal employee union-backed Biden.

The government unions argue that without significant pay raises, federal workers would leave their jobs. But that’s a myth. Voluntary departures from federal service are only one-quarter as high as in the private sector.

Maybe that’s because their benefits of $44,000 in 2021, are roughly three times as those for comparable private workers, who get $13,500 in yearly benefits. That doesn’t take into account that, unlike private workers, most federal employees have the equivalent of lifetime tenure – regardless of how poorly they perform.

4) Government and Health Care Still on a Hiring Spree

We repeat ourselves: how can an institution that is headed toward bankruptcy continue to hire more workers and give them fat raises? Uncle Sam and state and local governments have ADDED more than half a million jobs – more than manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, mining, and construction COMBINED.

5) Claudine Gay Will Still Get Paid a $900,000 Salary

This is nearly obscene. Instead of getting the pink slip she deserved, the disgraced former Harvard president will return to her post as a Harvard professor and be paid a salary of nearly $900,000 a year, only a slight step down from her $1 million president’s pay.

No wonder college is so scandalously expensive. Mediocre professors are making $900,000 for teaching an average of less than six hours a week. These are the cushiest jobs in the world. And they’re paid for with tens of billions of tax dollars. Will people PLEASE stop donating money to universities?
