Attorney Alina Habba calls out Brett Kavanaugh to "step up" on Trump's behalf
Trump and his MAGA lackeys aren't even bothering with performative discretion in the wannabe autocrat's craven attempt at returning to power. Case in point: Trump attorney Alina Habba took the highly unusual and unethical step of predicting that a specific Supreme Court justice will rule in her client’s favor, stating in a Fox News appearance, "I think it should be a slam dunk in the Supreme Court. I have faith in them. You know, people like Kavanaugh, who the president fought for, who the president went through hell to get into place, he’ll step up. Those people will step up." Got that, Brett? Loud and clear, right? At the very least Kavanaugh should recuse himself to avoid any further appearance of obvious partiality, but we won't be holding our breath.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump and Republicans slammed with nightmare news to kick of 2024
A damning new report revealed that the serially indicted grifter took in at least $7.8 million dollars from 20 different foreign entities while he was in office — including $5.5 million from China alone — while his GOP cronies and MAGA lackeys in the House are at this very moment desperately trying to impeach President Biden — without a shred of evidence — for alleged foreign corruption. As is almost always the case with today's Republicans, their loudest cries are little more than self-incriminating projection.

Illinois voters file petition to remove Trump from Republican primary ballot
Voters in Illinois have filed a petition to remove the serially indicted insurrectionist from the state’s Republican primary ballot, echoing efforts in Colorado, Maine, and elsewhere to bar the disgraced ex-president from returning to the White House. Good. The seditious con man's attempt to retake the Oval Office should be impeded and obstructed every step of the way. Democracy is literally on the line.

"I had Black friends growing up": Nikki Haley tries to defend past comments about Civil War and slavery
Folks, take it easy. The South Carolina Republican and former UN ambassador who wants to be the frickin' president of the United States but could not bring herself to acknowledge the painfully obvious during a televised town hall — that the Civil War was absolutely a battle over the institution of slavery — had some Black friends when she was a kid so, you know, it's, like, totally cool. Fun fact: The "I’m not racist, I have Black friends" defense has become so controversial that even Wikipedia has an entire page dedicated to the phrase.

US’s wealthiest collectively held $8.5 TRILLION with a "T" in untaxed assets in 2022
Americans for Tax Fairness (ATF) found that the roughly 64,000 US households with at least $100 million in wealth — less than 0.05% of the population — controlled more than ONE in every SIX dollars of the country’s "unrealized gains," profits that aren’t taxable until the underlying asset, such as a stock position, is sold. "But the ultra-wealthy don’t need to sell to benefit: They can live off low-cost loans secured against their growing fortunes. And once inherited, such gains disappear completely for tax purposes," ATF’s Zachary Tashman and William Rice explained. Neat! Here's an idea: F*cking. Tax. The. Rich.
Neri Oxman, wife of billionaire Harvard donor Bill Ackman who called for Claudine Gay's ouster, apologizes after plagiarism allegations
In keeping with the rigorous ethical standards Ackman and co. applied to the recently ousted Harvard president, we can expect similar calls for Oxman to step down from her tenured post at MIT, right? Right?

Winning an open Arizona seat will take back the House
Yassamin Ansari for Congress: Winning in Arizona means we get our majority back — and losing means that some of the most unhinged election-denying, democracy-hating Trumpers in the country will be headed to Washington. Yassamin Ansari is a fantastic candidate running for Congress in a crucial Arizona seat to make sure we deliver President Biden a new majority for his second term! Can you chip in to help keep Trump's most radical minions out of office?
CNN runs Gaza coverage past Jerusalem team operating in shadow of IDF censor
No matter where they are on the planet, CNN journalists must submit all Israel/Palestine coverage to the company's bureau in Jerusalem prior to publication, a policy that willfully subjects stories to Israeli law including a requirement that sensitive content reported within its borders go through Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) censors. The policy of requesting government censorship is in stark contrast to other foreign news services, which frequently run sensitive stories through desks outside of Israel to avoid the IDF censor, and it means a good deal of how CNN is covering alleged war crimes by Netanyahu's regime is being dictated by the underlings of the accused.
Hydroxychloroquine could have caused 17,000 deaths during COVID, study finds

GOP lawmaker who helped tank 2023 makes "embarrassing" admission about the Republican Party's ongoing futility
US Rep. and Big Lie enthusiast Andy Biggs slammed his own party on Thursday, bemoaning its lack of accomplishments in 2023. "In my opinion, we have nothing to go out there and campaign on, Chris. It’s embarrassing," Biggs told Newsmax host Chris Salcedo. Correct! They do not. Relieve them of their misery and vote them out of office, folks!
