Jack, sign the petition to Congress: Support aid to parents and children.

House Speaker Mike Johnson wants to push ahead with government funding that would trigger major cuts in domestic programs. That includes the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)–a nutrition program targeted at the critical life stages of pregnancy, postpartum, and birth through the age of 5.

Unless Congress acts by January 19 to pass a continuing resolution that provides additional funds to the WIC program, it could be short $1 billion in 2024, denying over 2 million parents and children critical food aid. More than half of all infants in the U.S. receive benefits through the WIC program. This is an extremely urgent matter that funding-cut-happy Republicans cannot ignore.

Congress must take this opportunity to fund this critical program. The short-term spending bill covering food and agriculture programs expires on January 19. Lawmakers must fund WIC in order to protect vulnerable parents, children, and infants.

Sign the petition: Demand Congress fund WIC and continue the vital program for parents and children.
