Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (in which Minnesota is located) issued a ruling that could severely undermine the Voting Rights Act. This decision limits the ability of private citizens and civil rights groups to sue under a crucial section of the Act, Section 2, which addresses racially discriminatory voting practices.

This is an alarming setback for voting rights.

I am leading a vital effort to rally other states to challenge and overturn this ruling. I have already initiated conversations with several Secretaries of State who share our concerns, and our legal team has drafted and submitted legal memoranda to kick-start the process.
