Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump has now appealed the groundbreaking decisions in Colorado and Maine that disqualified him from the ballot for engaging in the January 6, 2021, insurrection. The question of his eligibility to run for president is headed to the U.S. Supreme Court.1
We are working around the clock to encourage more states to uphold the Constitution—which prohibits elected officials who participate in an insurrection from holding office again—and disqualify Trump, but our time to make an impact is running out, as we expect the Supreme Court to act quickly.
We have a two-pronged strategy: We have just days to block Trump from being on more state ballots while also pressuring Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from deciding the case. Thomas's wife was closely involved with the insurrection, and she was even interviewed by the House select committee investigating the January 6 riot, so he has a clear conflict of interest.2
Will you start a $5 monthly donation to support our work to keep Donald Trump off more state primary ballots, demand that Clarence Thomas recuse himself from the case, and defeat extremist MAGA candidates at the ballot box this Novemeber?
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Will you start a $5 monthly donation to help urge more secretaries of state to disqualify Donald Trump, pressure Clarence Thomas to recuse himself, and power the fight to defeat anti-democracy extremists at the ballot box?

In spite of racist voter suppression tactics being "alive and well," voters of color are resilient and continue to show up to the polls: 87% of Black voters, 66% of Latino voters, and 63% of Asian voters cast their ballots for Joe Biden in 2020.3,4
The January 6 insurrection was a violent escalation of long-standing Republican voter suppression efforts, rooted in racism and aimed at disenfranchising Black and brown voters. Since Trump and his convicted white supremacist enablers—including the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers—couldn't disenfranchise enough voters at the polls in 2020, they stormed the U.S. Capitol to stop the certification process.5
In 2021, democracy prevailed. But our democracy is further weakened every time a new exception is made to enable Trump. He is not above the law.
As former Labor Secretary Robert Reich recently wrote to MoveOn members, "It's going to take all of us coming together to stop Donald Trump and his MAGA movement from taking over the White House—and never leaving."
Please start a $5 monthly donation to help MoveOn disqualify Donald Trump from running in 2024, engage millions of people to thwart Trump's march toward fascism, and save our democracy.
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Enforcing the 14th Amendment is not only a legal necessity, it's also a moral imperative. Our democratic values and civil rights are on the line. As Representative Jamie Raskin has emphasized, we can't "run scared from Donald Trump. We have got to enforce our Constitution." Because, "if he's allowed to stay on the ballot, despite his clear incitement of an insurrection and attempt to overturn the results in the 2020 election, and he loses to Joe Biden ... he will try to overturn the election result again."6
Donald Trump tried to violently overturn election results. Please start a $5 monthly donation, join the fight to disqualify him from running for office again, and defeat his extremist lackey this November.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention. To keep the Banned Bookmobile up and running into 2024, we need your help.
