Dear Friend,
The difficulties COVID-19 (coronavirus) is placing on individuals, families, businesses, and communities are becoming more clear each and every day. I wish to express my sincerest concern for your well being and also share my gratitude for your ongoing support during this time of uncertainty and concern.
The American spirit is one of triumph and perseverance. As a people, our character is overwhelmingly one of hard work, kindness, and generosity. We have weathered many storms by coming together and each doing our part to help serve and protect the country we love.
At this time, I give you my assurance that Heritage Action is continuing to do its part.
We continue to work directly with the Administration, Senate and House to address the economic and public health impacts of COVID-19 and provide conservative solutions.
I am sure you have heard different reports about the effects of coronavirus and what policies the government can and is taking. With this in mind, the Heritage Action team created a guide to frequently asked questions (FAQ) about COVID-19 and the proper policy response. Please take a look.
But we also need your help.
On Saturday, the House passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the Senate will likely pass this bill today—read our statement on this bill. Congress will soon consider additional legislation.
Currently, there are proposals to combat COVID-19 by enacting massive, fiscally unwise spending packages that will add to the national debt and affect generations of Americans to come.
Congress’s response to COVID-19 should be targeted, temporary, and focused on having an immediate impact on improving public health and easing the strain on individuals and businesses. We should not bail out politically-connected companies, give handouts to special interests, or create new, permanent federal programs.
I am asking you to call your Senators today and tell them you "oppose multi-industry bailouts and support a responsible package."
Once again, thank you for your ongoing support. And thank you for joining with us to advocate for conservative solutions to address the current problems before our nation.
