Dear Friend --

First of all: Happy new year, from all of us at ICAN.  Second: Are you still open to ideas for new years’ resolutions?  How do you feel about joining us in taking on nuclear spending

Every year, the 9 nuclear armed states squander billions of dollars on their nuclear arsenals ($82.9 billion in 2022).  They choose to divert public funds from the real needs of their people into weapons of mass destruction. And while we hope that in 2024 they see the necessity to change their ways, we don’t think “ending nuclear spending” is on their resolution list this year. So we’ve put it on ours.

Every year, we’re the only organisation to expose the insane global cost of nuclear weapons, making headlines and shining a spotlight on figures the 9 nuclear-armed states would rather keep hidden. When we publish in June, we want everyone to use our research to organise an event or action on nuclear weapons spending! Will you be a part of it?

RSVP for the week of action

We are also still raising funds to make this week of action as impactful as we can.  To pull this off, we’ll need to put in serious resources to cover the research costs of our global nuclear spending report, translate the results into appealing, easily shareable, and locally relevant materials, support our campaigners, and more.  So will you help us on our way?

Yes, I’ll donate

I’ve seen the power of moving money away from nuclear weapons in the private sector to stop companies from building these weapons of mass destruction. I’m excited that together we can shift funding priorities back to what really matters,  a future without the constant threat of nuclear weapons.

Stay tuned,
