Friend,
We’re at an unprecedented time with the rapidly spreading coronavirus, known as COVID-19. I want to make sure you’re informed and equipped with the resources you need to get through this time.
But first I want to note: In the midst of widespread uncertainty and anxiety, this virus is revealing to us that we are all human, and we’re all in this together. Our health and well-being is tied to the health and well-being of everyone, including the most vulnerable among us.
We can’t give into fear-based othering or individualism. Now is the time for us to come together (while practicing social distancing) to push for solutions—including testing, treatment, and paid time off—that will help everyday people weather the outbreak of this virus and set a better course for the future of our communities.
Right now, I want to hear from you about what our families and communities most need during this pandemic. Click here to share your ideas on how we can get through the coronavirus crisis together.
Here are regularly updated resources for how to protect yourself and your community:
For residents of Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, our offices are helping share essential information from all levels of government, including through a recent tele-townhall. We’re staying #RootedInCommunity by listening to our residents about any challenges or issues that arise, and getting everyone access to water, treatment, testing, and information.
And wherever you live, we want to hear from you! Because as an antidote to fear and isolation, it’s essential that we turn toward one another and build community.
Besides immediate health questions or concerns about survival, what do you need or hope for right now? Do you have ideas for how we can help support you and your community, such as online resources or virtual community gatherings? What resources have you found helpful so far?
Please let us know your thoughts here.
In solidarity,
Rashida
