Friend,
Right now the CDC is telling Americans that the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus is to stay home and practice social distancing. And yet, hundreds of thousands of Americans in Florida, Illinois and Arizona were forced to put their health at risk yesterday by going to their local polling station.
Five states postponed their primary elections to ensure the safety and well-being of their voters, but with officials warning that our lives may not return to normal for months, we need a better system to ensure that voters aren’t putting their health at risk in order to exercise one of their most basic rights.
Voters should not have to choose between exercising their right to vote and protecting their health and the health of their families.
Universal vote-by-mail would ensure that all voters are able to exercise their rights from the safety of their homes while the CDC and other world health organizations continue to promote the need to social distance.
Thank you for taking action today.
