Committed to the safety of our residents, volunteers and staff Developing affordable homes and helping communities thrive since 1975. Dear AHC Friends, Thank you for your support of our AHC community. As concerns about Coronavirus continue to grow, we are committed to doing all we can to keep our residents, volunteers and staff safe. We are closely monitoring local and national resources to make plans to protect our community, while also putting systems in place to keep our residents informed and secure. Our actions will undoubtedly evolve as the situation changes, but here are some of the steps we have initiated to meet the needs of the children, adults and senior citizens we serve: Created an internal taskforce that is meeting regularly to respond to the changing situation. Committed to helping residents remain in their homes during this challenging economic crisis by working closely with those in need and partnering with community resources. Distributed CDC fliers about COVID-19 to all our residents and posted in all our properties. Communicated information to all residents (via our Rent Café email system and paper copies) outlining precautionary measures to reduce the potential risk of exposure to them and their families, visitors, and our staff members. Limited rental office interaction to appointments and emergency requests and asked residents to call or use the Rent Café portal for maintenance services and other resident-related services. Provided gloves for our maintenance and janitorial staff to use when entering resident apartments and suggest they keep the CDC-recommended 3 to 6 feet away from residents to ensure both staff and resident safety. Redirected the custodial company to maintain an increased schedule of cleaning and wiping surfaces for common areas and the management offices. Asked residents to let us know if anyone in their family is diagnosed with COVID-19. Developed a process for our Resident Services staff to respond to families’ needs via email and phone. We’ve also set up a new “hot line” for residents to provide emergency needs referrals, including food assistance. In accordance with Arlington Public Schools, we cancelled all our educational programming. Staff is developing educational activity suggestions to share with families who have children at home. Created a web page with resources for residents, including links to CDC information, local public health offices and food distribution sites. We are adding to it as more resources become available. Link here. Developed protocols for AHC and AHC Management staff members that include working from home for non-essential employees. We sincerely hope COVID-19 will be contained soon. In the meantime, we deeply appreciate your support for AHC and our residents, who are likely to be particularly impacted by the uncertainty and economic disruption caused by the virus. We are so grateful for your continued commitment to AHC families and will keep you informed as needs develop. Thank you for being part of our community. I am proud to lead AHC and know that together, we will continue to help families gain stability and thrive. We wish good health and safety to you and your family, Walter D.
