New Year, New Council Members!

We kicked off 2024 with swearing-in ceremonies in Dover, Boonton, Chatham Twp, Madison, Morristown, Victory Gardens, and Parsippany! Congratulations to all of our newly elected (and re-elected) local officials starting terms this week!

Here is the remaining schedule of swearing-in ceremonies: 

• Jan 3 at 7 PM - Morris Township - Donna Guariglia (Mayor); Jeff Grayzel (Deputy Mayor); Siva Jonnada & Bud Ravitz (Township Committee) - Municipal Building (50 Woodland Ave, Convent Station)
• Jan. 4 at 7 PM - Mendham Township - Amalia Duarte (Township Committee) - Township Middle School (16 Washington Valley Rd., Mendham) 
• Jan. 8 - 7:30 PM - Chatham Borough - Carolyn Dempsey (Mayor); Justin Strickland & Brian Hargrove (Council) - Chatham Borough Hall (54 Fairmount Ave., Chatham)

January 6th, 2024, the third anniversary of the Capitol insurrection, will also mark the beginning of 2024 -- a big year that will again test many of our democratic institutions. We think January 6th, 2024, is also an opportunity to show that the Indivisible movement will be right there fighting for our democracy.

Join Morris County Democrats and OneNJ7, and your fellow activists from the area. You'll hear from speakers who understand our history and the implications of January 6th to our future. Get ready to save our democracy by engaging with activists you already know and new ones in the making.

Protecting democracy is one of the most patriotic actions you can take. Wear red, white, and blue to show your support for our country and democracy. Once you register you will receive more information about the movement and the event!

We are excited to host upcoming Town Hall forums with candidates for the U.S. Senate! We believe it is important to hear the candidates' positions and understand their priorities if elected, for you to make an informed decision.

Both forums will take place at the County College of Morris in Randolph. We will ask for questions in advance, and, time allowing, take some from the audience. Additional details will be provided, upon an RSVP.

Professional photographer John Hester has spent time on the campaign trail and at fundraising events capturing the excitement of Morris County Democrats!

All are invited to a special exhibit of his work on Saturday, Jan. 27, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., featuring photos of volunteers, party leaders and our amazing elected officials, including Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, Rep. Josh Gottheimer and former Rep. Tom Malinowski! RSVP today!

A forum will take place on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m., via Zoom for voters in Congressional District 7, featuring candidates: Sue Altman, Jason Blazakis and Greg Vartan. More details will be communicated soon!
