NCLCV

John,

I hope this message finds you well amid the rapid changes to our state and world. As the state works to slow the spread of COVID-19 in North Carolina, we know our lives and communities will be disrupted in ways we have never seen before.

Standing next to Gov. Roy Cooper, DHHS Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen said, “We all play a role in keeping our communities safe and healthy. Let’s be guided by compassion and reason and work to support each other as a community.” It is with those words in mind that we will be postponing the Green Tie Awards, currently scheduled for May 20th, until later in the year.

In addition, I'm not writing to urge you to take action today or ask for your support. During this time of uncertainty, I wanted to say that we're in this together — as families, as communities, and as resilient North Carolinians.

The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters remains committed to protecting the natural resources that sustain us, even as we reshuffle our priorities and work to protect the immediate health and safety of our families and communities. We'll continue our work for climate action, protecting our water against GenX and coal ash, accountability of our lawmakers for their voting records on the environment, and our campaigns to elect more conservation champions across North Carolina.

Although it is unclear whether the General Assembly will convene this year’s session on April 28th as originally planned, we are working on creative ways to engage with you and our lawmakers on the important issues about which we all care so deeply. If you have interesting or innovative ways to continue our fight during this time, please don't hesitate to email me and share your ideas.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy, and I look forward to connecting with you again soon.

All my best,
Carrie
