It has been a half a century since President Nixon signed the Endangered Species Act (ESA) into law. It passed with near unanimous support in Congress and has polled well with the American people, with approval hovering near 80%. The ESA is undoubtedly an important conservation tool credited with saving 99% of species from extinction. Alas, only 3% (or 57) of 1,732 listed domestic endangered or threatened species have successfully recovered and been delisted from the ESA list. This is well below the projected recovery goal of 300 species initially set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Read More

The president of Harvard University has had a terrible, awful, no good, very bad day... really month! Claudine Gay’s polarizing congressional testimony kicked off what has become weeks of embarrassment for one of the most elite universities in the world.
People are questioning the Harvard brand (and that of many other elite institutions) in the weeks since Hamas’ brutal attack against innocent Jews. The Claudine Gays of this world have been exposed for their hypocrisy about racial justice in the face of blatant antisemitism. Her inability or unwillingness to defend the safety of Jewish students against violent rhetoric was a colossal failure and demonstration of poor leadership.

Leaders of the national sorority Phi Mu threatened to place restrictions on or revoke the membership of more than a dozen alumni after they questioned a series of changes allegedly made to the sorority’s bylaws, including the decision to allow men to join as “sisters,” according to documents reviewed by Independent Women’s Forum. In the case of alumna Michele Bunker, from South Carolina, the sorority’s governing body acted on that threat, revoking her membership entirely.

A bill in the Washington State legislature could criminalize ownership of gas-powered leaf blowers if enacted. House Bill 1868 claims “gasoline-powered and diesel-powered landscaping and other outdoor power equipment emit a host of air pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, carbon dioxide, and other pollutants, contributing to climate change and negatively impacting public health.” The bill says it will incentivize the phasing out of gas-powered equipment by deploying “tax relief” and a “temporary grant program” for carbon neutral equipment.
