And not just any presidential election year—one that will decide whether America chooses democracy or fascism.

We have only 307 days until Election Day. That's less than 11 months—fewer than 44 weeks—to make our case to the American people that we should choose freedom and democracy over fascism and demagoguery.

With the clock ticking, we are writing to ask you to donate $5 a month to MoveOn to start the election year off strong. MoveOn is executing plans to engage millions of people across the country and turn them out to vote. But that kind of grassroots organizing must start now, because talking with voter after voter is expensive, and MoveOn can do it only with the sustained support of grassroots supporters like you.

John, we want to tell you a little more about MoveOn's strategy to mobilize key voters in critical battleground states so that we can win the 2024 elections.

We can break down our strategy into the five W's: who, what, when, where, and why.

Who? MoveOn is laser focused on "surge voters," those people who voted for the first time or returned to voting more frequently in 2018 or 2020 and who are likely to make the difference between winning and losing in most battleground states. We know surge voters are typically ignored by the political establishment and that they will need extra care and attention to ensure they turn out—but if they cast ballots, Democrats are likely to win.¹

What? MoveOn is running a program called "vote tripling," an innovative voter outreach tactic that trains individuals to reach out to three friends or family members to help them make a plan to vote and hold them accountable for getting to the polls. We piloted vote tripling in 2020, and a scientific analysis showed that a program like this was five times more effective than traditional outreach like phone-banking. We then honed our approach in 2022, and an analysis showed that our work turned out at least 50,000 voters who otherwise might not have voted—a huge number at a time when our country is divided 50-50 and races in battleground states are often decided by just a few thousand votes or fewer.

When? MoveOn and MoveOn volunteers will contact surge voters multiple times throughout this year, with a focus on reaching out to voters when mail-in ballots reach their mailbox and during GOTV—the critical final few days before Election Day. But we are getting started very early (now) to identify, engage, and motivate these voters, so that we'll be well positioned to turn them out to vote.

Where? We're concentrating on critical battleground states, especially those that will be pivotal to winning both the White House and the Senate. That includes Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and more.

Why? The 2024 election will decide whether America goes down the path of freedom or fascism, and it's going to take all of us doing everything we can to defeat MAGA lapdogs up and down the ballot.
