Dear John,

I want to begin with deep gratitude.

As we enter our sixth decade leading the way toward true gender justice, I am struck over and over by the tenacious belief that informs everything we do at the National Women’s Law Center: We can make the world a better place.

And not just that we can. That we must, and we will —but only if we can count on supporters like you working right beside us.

Every legal victory we win, every new law passed by Congress or enforced in the courts, every survivor we support, and every abortion patient and provider we protect. All these actions are laying the groundwork for a more just and equitable future for all.

That’s the energy we will be bringing to 2024 as we face a presidential election, hugely impactful Supreme Court cases, and extremists bent on enforcing their own rigid, sexist, and racist views on the rest of us. No matter what comes our way this year, I can promise you that NWLC is ready to keep leading the fight to protect reproductive rights, defend LGBTQIA+ students, close the wage gap, and so much more.
But where I began this email with gratitude, I’d like to end with a reminder:

To see change, to shift narratives, and to truly realize meaningful progress towards gender justice, we must remain consistent. No matter the setback, the failure, the tension, or even in our victories. We must be persistent.

Thank you for being such a committed partner in our work this past year. I hope to see you by our side, persistently, in 2024.

Happy new year,
Fatima Goss Graves
