Dear John,
A new study released by the Fraser Institute today finds that higher university subsidies do not necessarily result in a more educated population.
In 2021/22 universities across Canada educated over a million full time and 250,000 part time students at a total cost of $46 billion.
The single largest source of funding comes from provincial governments.
But high-spending provinces generally do not record higher levels of educational attainment.
For example, Newfoundland & Labrador, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island all ranked in the top half of spending on a per-domestic student basis, but ranked low in terms of educational attainment.
Find out how the rest of the country ranked here, and be sure to share the news on social media!
Sincerely,
Niels Veldhuis
President
