Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
2023: YEAR IN REVIEW
It was a pleasure to serve you this year while working to solve the issues facing our nation. I introduced 14 original bills, cosponsored 163 others and secured over $32 million for critical projects in Florida's 18th district.
I also fought to advance commonsense initiatives to put America on a better path by working to secure our southern border, strengthen national security, help veterans and grow our economy:
✔ Passed my bill H.R. 662, the Block Grant Assistance Act, to provide relief for growers impacted by hurricanes Ian & Nicole.
✔ Voted for H.R. 2, the Secure our Borders Act, to finish the border wall/fence, hire more agents and fix the asylum system.
✔ Voted for H.R. 1530, the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act, to improve the VA claims and disability exam process.
✔ Voted to help vets fight inflation by approving a much-needed Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
✔ Voted for H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, to reduce energy prices and restore America’s energy independence.
✔ Cut inflation-triggering spending in my work on the Appropriations committee.
✔ Cosponsored a constitutional balanced budget amendment to permanently fix Congress’ spending problem.
The federal bureaucracy is difficult to navigate alone. From assisting families stuck in the immigration process, to helping veterans receive benefits or facilitate communication with the IRS and Social Security Administration, our office can help. This year, our constituent services team opened 1,106 cases and closed more than 1,000 on behalf of FL-18 residents.
