Hi John,
I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful New Year’s celebration. This new year is
a big one for the American Lung Association: We are celebrating our 120th anniversary!
Founded in 1904, we pioneered a groundbreaking model of education, advocacy and
research to address critical public health issues.
From virtually ending tuberculosis in the US, to making domestic airline flights and public
spaces smokefree, to creating resources and community for those affected by lung
disease. We’re proud of how far we’ve come.
We’ve saved millions of lives, through funding research that led to crucial healthcare
discoveries, helping people quit smoking, promoting lung cancer screening, addressing
health disparities, promoting clean air and clean energy policy, working to end youth
vaping, helping people navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and so much more.
And we couldn’t do it without YOU. Your enduring support makes this work possible.
Looking forward, we have much more work to do to achieve our vision of a world free of
lung disease.
Thank you again, and Happy New Year!
Harold Wimmer
President and CEO,
American Lung Association
