The coronavirus pandemic has shown us just how connected we are, from our
neighborhoods and cities to our global community. We are in this together --
and our response has to match that reality. That's why yesterday I shared two
important efforts to accelerate the fight against the coronavirus, at the local
and global levels:

The launch of the Coronavirus Global Response Initiative

* This $40 million initiative will support immediate action and prevent or
slow the spread of the coronavirus in vulnerable low- and middle-income
countries.
* Bloomberg Philanthropies will partner with global health organizations to
support lower-income countries and cities as they respond to the coronavirus
pandemic.
The first virtual convening of the Coronavirus Local Response Initiative

* Building on an announcement from last week, more than 180 city leaders will
join public health experts tomorrow to receive the most up-to-date information
on the virus, and crisis coaching to manage the public health pandemic.
* The virtual convening will be the first in an ongoing series to provide
city leaders with technical assistance and coaching, and the chance to share
emerging practices with other mayors on the front lines of the public health
crisis.
Millions of lives depend on getting our coronavirus response right -- and so
does the economic and social health of communities around the world. Can you
