TDI proposes rule concerning terminology describing transportation-related incidents

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) proposes a new rule to implement HB 2190 (88R, 2023), which changed the term "accident" to "collision" in various Texas statutes, including Insurance Code Sections 1952.155 and 1954.056. The new rule clarifies that the change in terms does not impact TDI's interpretation of the Insurance Code or TDI rules. The transition provision in HB 2190, Section 142, expressly states that the changes to the law are nonsubstantive and are intended to clarify rather than change existing law.
