January 6th, 2021 was a promise fulfilled. Donald Trump said that he will stop at nothing to cling to power. And this Saturday will mark three years since he proved it. Trump and his MAGA allies incited an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, orchestrating a violent attack that almost brought our democracy to its knees—and cost people their lives. Now that Trump is running for president again, and a frontrunner in the polls, it is up to all of us to prevent another tragedy. Just because the violent hordes of Proud Boys and conspiracy theorists went home doesn’t mean that the threat to our democracy ended. It was just the beginning. Since the attack on the Capitol, we have been fighting an onslaught of voter suppression, election disinformation campaigns, and elected officials trying to overturn election results simply because they don’t like them. If Trump becomes the Commander in Chief again, he’s pledged to: 🚫 Weaponize the Department of Justice to intimidate, persecute, and retaliate against his political opponents, and use the military to repress peaceful civilian protestors. That’s just a fraction of what Trump has said out loud. When he uses the same fascist rhetoric Hitler used, tells us he’ll only be a dictator “on day one,” and then publicly lays out his plans to abuse power and repress civilians, it’s time to believe him. Thanks for all that you do. Sami & Chloe
