Marc spoke to the new educational reality that we find ourselves in: three in four students are no longer able to attend school, many communities are struggling to get meals to kids who need them and families are overwhelmed with the unexpected challenge of also taking on the role of teacher.
We have to be preparing now, Marc noted, to provide for students in an environment that requires schools be closed not for days or weeks, but months.
Marc made the case for a pragmatic approach to these early weeks, laying out four guiding principles for this new education reality: strive to keep some consistency in kids' lives, don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good when it comes to instruction, help kids stay connected with their friends and teachers and be open to what new things emerge as we are all thrust into this world of distance learning.
