When’s the last time you took an aimless walk — one with no real destination, one that follows its own course, one that mostly ignores the clock? If that’s a head-scratching question, 2024 might be the time for you to make the simplest self-improvement plan and vow to walk more. Whether in the morning after school drop-off, on a lunch break, or after dinner with the family, a walk that is for walking’s sake can do more to improve your mental and physical well-being than any well-laid fitness or mindfulness plan. The activity is one with such a low bar and such high reward. So go ahead and put one foot in front of the other. Truly, that’s all it takes.
