45th Anniversary Event: The legacy of engagement
The Carter Center cordinally invites you to honor President Carter and commemorate the 45th anniversary of U.S.-China relations at its conference and gala dinner on Jan. 9, 2024. President Carter has long considered normalization of the U.S.-China diplomatic relationship one of his most important legacies.
At the conference, world-renowned experts will participate in panel discussions on different dimensions of the U.S.-China diplomatic, military, and economic relationship. Award-winning journalist and biographer Jonathan Alter, author of 'His Very Best: Jimmy Carter, a Life', will offer remarks. A gala dinner to celebrate President Carter's legacy promoting peace in East Asia will follow the conference in the evening.

The event is supported by the Center's partners, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the U.S.-China Business Council, and the Center for American Studies at Fudan University.

President Carter opened the first Carter Center Forum on U.S.-China Relations in December 2012 in Beijing, China. Since then, the forum has alternated between Atlanta and China. The last forum was held in January 2019 on the 40th anniversary of normalization.

We hope you'll join us for this important event and celebrate President Carter's enduring legacy of waging peace in East Asia.
