Due to the threat of the novel coronavirus, several counties including our own have issued a shelter-in-place order until April 7th. This means no congregating and no traveling, except for essential work and errands.
This is a time to stay safe, practice self-care, and take care of yourself and your loved ones.
But it is also a time to organize. We’re working on putting together resources for members of our community to stay secure throughout this difficult time. We have also started a #covid_19_mutual_aid channel on our Slack, where our members can ask for and offer aid.
Our first big initiative is to gather your stories.
This is a scary and difficult time for a lot of people. We want to collect the stories of our members so we can share them with our Members of Congress and with the community at large. We will be using these stories to keep a human face on the crisis, and to urge our MoC’s to pass legislation that helps people get through this period safely and securely.
If you have:
- Been unable to get testing or care for coronavirus (or other conditions)
- Been unfairly billed for testing or treatment
- Experienced a loss of work or income
- Been coping with the shelter-in-place order in the Bay Area
- Been helping or helped by members of your community
Feel free to share your story!
Only the stories will be shared, all other information is private. Please don't include personally identifiable information in your story.
There’s plenty to do from home and ways you can help your community.
Thank you for signing our Open Letter to MoC’s on Coronavirus aid bills
The ISF Steering Committee has expressed support to our Members of Congress for the legislative proposals of Speaker Pelosi and Democratic Leader Schumer and for HR 6201 (the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.)
Those are good first steps for Congress to take, but Trump/Republicans are opposing them, and far more needs to be done. Therefore, we have asked Indivisible members to read and sign our Open Letter expressing our continued support for the initial legislative package and urging our MoC’s to fight for even bolder, stronger, and more effective measures.
Read our final draft on our blog.
We have over 100 signatures! Thank you!
We’ll be sending the open letter with the signatures to our MoC’s tomorrow. We’ll let you know how they respond!
And - don’t forget - we still have electoral work to do!
Textbank from home. To turn America around after the devastation that Trump has wrought, we’ll need to win the Senate. Join IndivisiTexting at the Payback Project to help us flip the Senate. Textbanking is proven to improve turnout and is one of the easiest, fastest ways to reach voters—and you can do it all from the comfort of your home; all you need is an internet connection.
Write letters from home as part of the VoteForward campaign. This is the same service we use at Pints & Postcards to reach voters. Vote Forward volunteers send heartfelt handwritten letters to progressive-leaning unregistered and low-propensity voters encouraging them to participate in our democracy. The letters have been shown to boost turnout significantly. As long as you have a printer, envelopes and stamps, you can print out letters to voters, write your heartfelt messages, and send them out! To find out more, visit https://votefwd.org/.
Donate to our postcard writing efforts—we are spending that money only on paper, postage, and envelopes!

Indivisible SF General Meetings are CANCELED for the month. We are working on ways to stay in contact with you online!
Indeed, you can expect that most in-person events are canceled until at least April 7th due to the shelter-in-place order. Look for things to be moved online or postponed to later in the year.
