Did you know that the United States is currently the world's largest producer of oil? In 2022, we became the biggest exporter of liquefied gas, planning to double our exports by 2035. We’re also leading the world's largest planned expansion of oil and gas through 2050. We’re moving in the opposite direction of where we need to go – we are killing this planet at a rapid rate. That’s not something to brag about.

We are in the midst of a global climate crisis. 2023 finished out as the hottest year ever recorded. But we continue to create new fossil fuel projects and expand our use of fossil fuels every day.

Just weeks ago, COP28 (the annual UN climate conference) agreed to phase out the use of fossil fuels. The U.S. committed to support a global fossil fuel phasedown by 2030 and a phaseout by 2050. But our actions as a nation don’t reflect our promises.

Despite this agreement, the Biden Administration has continued to give the go-ahead to planet-heating oil and gas projects.

We must make a commitment to end the production and use of fossil fuels. This is essential to prevent a worsening of the global climate crisis, and it’s exactly what we’re demanding today.
