New Year's greetings, John

This is a final reminder about our appeal on the rollback of women’s rights in Afghanistan.  

With so much war and destruction taking the world’s attention away, the women’s rights activists we spoke to, had a clear message:

This New Year's Day, can you make a donation in support of Womankind’s efforts to sustain the women’s rights movement in Afghanistan? 

We are working to not only support women’s rights organisations to co-ordinate, advocate and deliver their work for women and girls, but also to ensure Afghan women’s voices are not left out in national and international advocacy spaces.

A lost generation of women and girls 

A whole generation of young women and girls had grown up in a time when the future was full of new possibilities. The initial shock and disbelief following the Taliban takeover quickly turned to hopelessness: 

What can we do? 

Despite the threat of violence, stripped of their rights, women and girls are carrying on with their lives. It is an act of unseen, unheard bravery. Will you stand with them today by making a donation? 

As ever, Afghan women are defiant and are finding ways to be present, active, and visible. We must not forget them. We must speak out and urge action for them and with them.
